In this class, Color Theory and Mixing, learn about the spectrum of colors and how to color match with ease. Color theory isn’t scary or complicated- its a recipe book we will map out! We will create a still life with vibrant colors to practice how color changes over a form.

With Painting 101, learn the skills that make any painting possible by understanding the building blocks of painting. Quickly grow your skill, understanding, and the beginnings of your own style through fun, simple, guided lessons. No matter your experience, you’ll leave feeling inspired, capable, and ready to paint with oils.

If you’re ready to build the underlying knowledge used in painting, and finally pick up a brush to have fun creating when feeling inspired, this is your place to start!

These classes are open to all levels of experience. Expect guided demos, personal feedback, and optional assignments to continue practicing at home.

In this landscape class, learn Depth, Detail, and Atmospheric Perspective. How do you make a painting easily convey distance and light. How do you make it look like it is in proportion? We will cover simple rules of space, and create a landscape painting to practice steps for painting distance, detail, and a painting you could walk into.

Thursdays October 22nd and 29th 6:30-9pm

Discover how approachable figure and portrait drawing can be in this hands-on charcoal workshop. Play with bold, experimental charcoal techniques as you create modern, expressive artwork to display in your home!

In Charcoal Figures Oct 22nd: Learn to simplify the body into basic shapes, capture proportion and gesture, and use light and shadow to create form. Starting from loose figure sketches, you’ll learn approachable methods for understanding proportion and movement. We will go through a mix of dynamic sketching exercises designed to help you capture the essence of the human form with energy and style. Finish class with a refined contemporary figure drawing on a larger surface. Receive hands on guidance and feedback from your instructor along with live follow along demos through out class.

In Charcoal Portraits Oct 29th: Get ready to smudge, layer, erase, and experiment as a face gradually emerges from the page. We’ll explore both additive and subtractive charcoal techniques—building up rich darks, sweeping in expressive marks, and lifting charcoal away to reveal light, form, and personality. You’ll play with shapes, proportions, value, and shadow while learning how to bring a portrait to life through observation and instinct. Beginner-friendly, energetic, and designed for anyone who wants to loosen up, make a mess, and enjoy the magic of seeing a face appear before them. No previous drawing experience needed, and all materials are provided.

Create a lush, expressive floral painting inspired by the loose beauty of a garden in bloom. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to simplify flowers and foliage, build depth through layers of color, and use confident, painterly brushwork to keep your painting feeling fresh and alive.

Experiment with oil paint's transparent and sculpting properties in this exciting workshop. Push and pull values by both adding and subtracting paint from your canvas while bringing energy to your florals. Play with thinning your oils using techniques similar to watercolor to create loose, textural, and dynamic marks.

Work from the instructor led demo and example, or bring in an artwork you would like to learn from with individual guidance.

Discover the foundations of oil painting in this supportive 4-week course designed for those just starting out, or those looking for deeper quality instruction and experimentation. In this series, travel through the American West painting iconic landscapes that we all know and love. Through step-by-step demos, you’ll learn essential techniques for landscape painting including color mixing, layering, perspective and style.

Each week of this course we will paint a different landscape to explore different lighting, textures, and colors. Follow along with instructor Morgan Jones’ demos to learn techniques and complete a guided painting, or choose your own image to apply demonstrated techniques to complete a painting of your own with individual guidance.
